University logos are reserved for official university entities and registered student organizations only, and must follow licensing guidelines. Any other use requires written permission from MARCOMM. Read more about licensing below.
These logos should be used for any official ATU branding. If your department or organization does not have access to your specific departmental logo, please submit a request for access.
If you create designs/artwork using "ATU, "Arkansas Tech University" or other trademarked phrases, those designs must be pre-approved by MARCOMM before printing/ordering, and may not be used in place of the official logos. Submssions may be sent via our Artwork Approval form.

Note: There is a clear distinction between Jerry the Bulldog as our ambassador, and our team's names/nicknames (the “Wonder Boys” and the “Golden Suns”) that we need to keep intact. Jerry the Bulldog is the ATU Campus Ambassador and his likeness may not be used in any ways that anthropomorphize him or give him a voice or opinion. The creation of logos/artwork/promotional items that references Jerry the Bulldog and his likeness is not permitted so as to be in keeping with our mission.

About Licensing & Orders
Student organizations and university departments who wish to use Arkansas Tech University marks on apparel (such as t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, etc.), gift items (such as mugs, key chains, jewelry, etc.) and miscellaneous items (such as flash drives, bottled water, etc.) must follow these steps.
Steps
- Select a Licensed University Vendor.
*For t-shirts, you must go through the bid process if using university funds (does not apply for foundation or agency purchases). - Complete the Artwork Approval Form to submit a proof of artwork you've created.
- Once the request form is received, MARCOMM will review your submission within 1-14 business days and you will receive an email stating that your artwork is approved, the artwork needs changes, or the artwork is denied.
- Complete the ATU Controller's office Student Prize/Giveaway Form for approval.
*This is required for items using departmental funds.
All trademarked artwork filters through our licensing company, CLC, which can take a few days. Be sure to plan ahead and prepare for a short delay in the licensing process.
Note: Merchandise produced without authorization infringes on Arkansas Tech University’s trademarks and will be subject to all available legal remedies.
If you're planning to order printed materials, or items such as retractable banners, feather flags, or invitations, you do not need to order through a Licensed Vendor. Please follow the steps below.

Mission
The mission of Arkansas Tech University's Licensing program is to protect and promote the Arkansas Tech University brand and to ensure the public can properly identify and associate the University's name and logos with officially licensed products.
What Is It?
The licensing program is a resource for all members of the Arkansas Tech University community and the vendors who work with the University and was designed to ensure consistent and appropriate use of Arkansas Tech University's visual identity. Additionally, the program enables Arkansas Tech University to share in the benefits derived from the commercial use of these trademarks.
The purpose of Arkansas Tech University's licensing program is to ensure that Arkansas Tech University's brand identity is properly represented on products and services marketed to the both the University community and the public. The licensing program is responsible for determining if a product and/or design are consistent with the goals and image of Arkansas Tech University. The program also ensures the quality, content, production and distribution of products meets Arkansas Tech University's standards.
Arkansas Tech University has contracted with CLC for its licensing program. CLC acts as an intermediary for Arkansas Tech University, enabling it to work directly with manufacturers and retailers. This ensures that decisions can be made promptly and that manufacturers can become licensed with the University in a timely manner.
CLC
Arkansas Tech University utilizes CLC as its primary licensing agent. CLC assists Arkansas Tech University with the following:
- Facilitating the license application process
- Executing the licensing agreements
- Marketing the Arkansas Tech University brand to potential manufacturers
- Monitoring the marketplace for unlicensed use of trademarks
- Collecting royalty payments
- Conducting compliance review audits of licensed manufacturers
In order to produce products bearing the marks of Arkansas Tech University, manufacturers and vendors must be a licensee of Arkansas Tech University. To get started, fill out an application packet. The application contains instructions on how to complete the application phase of licensing as well as information that licensees will need to retain throughout the course of the licensing process.
All licensees are required to remit royalty reports and payments on a quarterly basis to Learfield, who collects these payments on behalf of Arkansas Tech University. Arkansas Tech University has established a royalty rate of 12% of the wholesale price of an individual product.

Arkansas Tech University licenses its trademarks, monitors their use and takes appropriate legal action with respect to infringements of its trademarks because failure to challenge infringements can result in the loss of rights in the trademarks.
A single improper use of a trademark does not invalidate it, but repeated improper use or a pattern of inattention to proper usage can be most damaging. Arkansas Tech University takes the protection of our name and trademarks very seriously. Along with CLC, Arkansas Tech University will use every means within the law to vigorously pursue any infringement of our trademark rights.
To determine whether a product is licensed, look for the licensed product label. All licensed manufacturers of Arkansas Tech University products are required to display this label on the product or on the packaging.
Any suspected misuse or unlicensed use of the University’s name or trademarks should be reported immediately to the licensing department.
Every time you buy an official licensed Arkansas Tech University product, the manufacturer returns a portion of that money to the University. This "Officially Licensed Collegiate Products" label is your assurance that the merchandise you purchase is "Official" and has been approved by Arkansas Tech University. Before you buy, look for the label.
