RESEARCH

My current research focuses on exploring student's mathematical thinking and cognitive processes while they work on modeling problems using technology, particularly interactive computer simulations. In particular, my research focuses on how interactive simulations influence student's use of mathematical concepts to solve a modeling problem, what students notice at the point of entry into the simulation, and what they consider as key factors to determine, explain, and predict the potential changes in the results of a simulation with altered parameters.
