PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Peter Dykema received his Ph.D. in History from the University of Arizona in 1998, majoring in medieval and early modern European history. While a graduate student at Arizona, Dykema received research fellowships from the Fulbright-Hays program, the German Historical Institute (Washington, D.C.), and the Institute for European History (Mainz, Germany), enabling him to spend a total of 39 months in Germany. Dykema organized an international conference on anticlericalism and was co-editor of the conference papers: Anticlericalism in Late Medieval and Early Modern Europe (Leiden: E.J. Brill, 1993). Dykema has presented a dozen conference papers (in the U.S., Canada, Scotland, England and Germany), published two articles on his research involving parish clergy and their training in 15th-16th century Germany, served for ten years as the review editor of the World History Bulletin, and has edited a collection of essays: John Calvin and the Reformation of the Refugees (Geneva: Droz, 2009). A faculty member at ATU since 2001, Dykema teaches the world history survey, upper-level courses in European history and the history of Christianity, and various graduate courses. Since 2010, he has served as the director of the M.A. history graduate program.
