Biography

Dr. Moss is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and serves as the Graduate Program Director for the Master’s program in General Psychology. His primary areas of expertise include social psychology, evolutionary psychology, and the psychology of close relationships.

Research Interests

Dr. Moss's research program seeks to identify how fundamental social motivations (e.g., finding a romantic partner) interact with proximate external pressures (e.g., degree of competition) to influence individuals’ strategies to find and maintain close relationships. Dr. Moss's research is theoretically informed by the intersection of evolutionary psychology, embodiment, and social cognition. His laboratory and online investigations use rigorous cross-disciplinary experimental methods to test predictions about individuals’ social motivations and relationship strategies. More broadly, his research aims to immerse undergraduate and graduate students with the scientific method by providing hands-on training in experimental design and statistical analysis.
