Student Success at Arkansas Tech University offers a variety of opportunities for students to become engaged through diverse development programs. These services are designed to help students adapt to university life, successfully complete a degree, and transition from college to career.
- Academic Coaching
Academic Coaching is a free program that allows students to meet one-on-one with an Academic Coach to discuss their academic goals and to develop a customized plan for success. Students typically meet for thirty minutes a week with a coach to develop their study habits, time management skills, and more. Each visit is tailored to the needs of the student. - Bridge to Excellence (B2E) Freshman Mentoring Program
B2E is a first-year mentoring program that pairs new students with volunteer faculty/staff mentors who help them navigate their first semester of college.
- The Doc Bryan Tutoring Center
The Doc Bryan Tutoring Center offers free, one-on-one peer tutoring services in many subjects, including mathematics, biology, chemistry, English, and accounting. - Norman Career Services
Norman Career Services assists students in discovering their career potential and the education and professionalism necessary to fulfill their career goals.
- Praxis Workshop Series
In partnership with the Department of Curriculum & Instruction, the Office of Student Success offers twelve Praxis Core math, two reading, and two writing workshops each semester. The Doc Bryan Tutoring Center also offers specialized tutoring for the Praxis Core in all subjects, Sunday - Thursday, 5pm - 9pm.
- Supplemental Instruction (SI)
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a program designed to help students increase grades in specific courses and to improve their study skills in all other courses. An SI Leader is assigned to specific courses, and the SI Leader leads two group study sessions each week specifically for students enrolled in each course. Students who attend SI sessions earn higher scores on tests and final grades compared to students who do not attend SI.
