ATU Summer Housing

Summer housing offers you the opportunity to take advantage of campus resources, take summer classes, and save on commuting time at a pretty reasonable rate.

Summer 2026 housing Dates

Dates: May 10, 2026 at noon to August 06, 2026 at noon.

Students must apply for summer housing through the housing portal and select the dates needed from date of check-in (no earlier than May 10) to date  of check-out (no later than August 06).

Housing charges will depend on  the number of nights selected (# of nights X nightly rate per person), hours enrolled, and lenght of stay. See nightly charges and special discounts below.

Current spring residents staying until the end of spring (May 07) applying to live on campus for the summer starting May 10 will be able to remain on campus until their summer room is ready at no extra charge. They just need to request spring extended stay.

Summer residents staying until the end of Summer (August 06) and staying for fall housing, will be able to remain on campus until their fall room is ready at no extra charge. No other application is needed.

Important Dates for Summer Residents

Transitioning from Spring to Summer Housing: 

All key pick up and return must take place Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm, in the Residence Life office (Doc Bryan 153)

  • Thursday, May 07 to Friday, May 08: FROM UC (Bldgs A, B, C, D, E) TO UC Bldg G 
    • Summer key pick up: Thursday, May 07
    • Spring key return: Friday, May 08
      *With summer camps and conferences starting May 9 and apartments being cleaned after check-outs, summer residents will move in as spaces become available. Be sure to check your email regularly—you’ll get a message when your new apartment is ready.
  • Thursday, May 14 to Friday, May 15: FROM all other buildings TO Wilson
    • Summer key pick up: Thursday, May 14
    • Spring key return: Friday, May 15

Transitioning from Summer to Fall Housing:

  • Friday, July 24 to Monday, July 27: To all halls except M Street, Nutt, and Baswell  
  • Wednesday, August 05 to Friday, August 07: To M Street (if ready), Baswell, Nutt

Not Staying for Fall:

  • Must check out by Thursday, August 06, 2026 at noon

 

SUMMER HOUSING Eligibility Requirements


University housing is available to students who are officially admitted to the university and who are enrolled

  1. To be eligible to be a resident in a University residence hall or apartment during summer terms a person must:
    1. Be enrolled in a Summer Session (May, June/July, or July/August), or
    2. Be a current Spring 2026 resident.
    3. Be a Fall 2026 resident.
  2. Online Only students are eligible to live on campus.
  3. The University reserves the right not to contract with persons who are currently violating or have previously violated the terms and conditions of a housing contract or other University rules or regulations, or who have a past due balance with the University.

 

SUMMER 2026 Room Prepayment

A $50 room prepayment will be required to secure a spot on campus for summer. This prepayment will be refunded to the student's account on or before August 1st.


Summer 2026 Locations & Rates

Summer 2026 rates will be published the last week of February. Summer 2025 rates are published below as a reference. A 10% increase max. is typically expected.

University Commons housing will only be provided for students with a Fall 2026 booking for the University Commons. All other residents will be assigned based on preference and availability.

Summer Room Placement

  • Residence Life will assign rooms to all applicants who signed a summer contract. 
  • University Commons housing will only be provided for students with a fall booking for the University Commons. 
    • Only one building will be used. Residents of other University Commons buildings will be required to move to the designated building (coming soon).
  • Room assignments will be emailed the last week of April including instructions for:
    • move-in, or
    • to move from spring housing to summer housing.

 

Summer Contract and Cancellations

  • Residents are urged to submit a housing application only if they are certain they wish to reside in campus housing.
  • Residents who cancel their contract on or after the fifth (5th) business day following the date of submission of the contract to the ATU Residence Life Office will forfeit their entire prepayment. 
  •  Residents who cancel their contract on or after the tenth (10th) business day following submission of the contract to the ATU Residence Life Office will forfeit their entire prepayment and incur a $250 cancellation fee, which will be charged to their ATU student account.
  • After initial term has started or resident has checked-in and received a key, this contract may only be cancelled by the student for the following reasons: graduation, student teaching or academic internship, marriage, or military leave.

  • Meal plans start May 10 with brunch.
  • Residents are required to purchase a meal plan unless living in the University Commons Apartments. 
  • Resident will select their meal plan in the housing portal after room is assigned.
  • Should resident fail to select a meal plan in the housing portal, resident will automatically be assigned the meal plan determined by the contract: Summer 65.
  • Resident will not be able to change their summer meal plans.
  • Meal plans are non-transferable.
  • If the first meal plan runs out, students may add up to one additional meal plan. To add additional plan:
    • Make sure account is paid in full or you are on a current term payment plan. This is necessary before the additional meal plan is activated.
    • Email Student Accounts at cardoffice@atu.edu with Tnumber, name, and which additional plan is needed.
