INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENT CHECK OUTS

Students may ONLY  be checked out of AGS on Sundays between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. or with prior approval from the AGS Director. Students leaving campus may be checked out by a parent/guardian or a person listed on the student's list of adults authorized to check student out of AGS. 

Checkout during these times on Sunday are on the bottom floor of the students' dorm. All other check-out/check-in procedures are conducted in the BazTech camp office 202. (Phone: 479-968-0391)

How to Add Names to Student Checkout List:

  • Parent or Guardian MUST send an email to ags@atu.edu with the the name/s to be added to the student's authrized check out list.  The email should contain the name of the student, an image of the parent's/guardian's driver's license, and the name(s) that are to be added.
  • Requests must be made no later than 12:00 pm the Friday before the requested Sunday checkout. Names may also be added in person in the residential halls on Sunday by a student's parent/guardian by presenting a driver's license and notifying residential life staff. 
  • Please ensure that all names added to the list are legal names and that all person(s) listed are 18 years of age or older.
  • Any person checking out a student must provide proper photo identification to the residential life staff and names must match the person's photo identification.

HOW TO CONTACT A STUDENT AT AGS

Students are allowed to have their cell phones. The best method of contacting your student is to contact them directly. The AGS office is not open after hours and the phone will not be answered. Voicemails are returned on the next business day.

The AGS Business Office observes the following hours:

Monday - Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday: Closed

The AGS Camp Office is occassionally monitored after-hours until 9:00 p.m.: 479-968-0391

All unanswered calls, during and after-hours, are recorded on voicemail and will be returned during office hours.

Remember, the best way to contact your student is via their personal cell phone.

You may send packages to your student at AGS. Packages or mail for the student can be sent to the ATU Post Office, 1711 Coliseum Drive Russellville, AR 72801.  Be sure to put the name of the student and Attn: Arkansas Governor's School on the front of the package/mail. Students should check with the post office if they are expecting a package. AGS staff will send an email/WebEx message to students when they have a package in the post office so students should monitor their accounts. The post office is closed on Saturday and Sunday each week.

Grocery/Food Deliveries

All grocery or food deliveries should be directed to the residence hall of the student. Student MUST be present to receive deliveries. It is not the camp staffs responsibility to receive deliveries for students. 

Emergency Phone 

For emergencies, you should first try to contact your student directly.  During regular business hours you may call the AGS Office and we will try to locate your student. If you are unable to reach AGS staff or your student and it is an emergency, please call Arkansas Tech University Public Safety at (479) 968-0222  (This number patches the caller into the campus public safety radio network, and is strictly for “life or death” emergencies).  Please note that ATU's Public Safety Officers can neither take after-hour messages for the AGS Office nor pass on messages to AGS students, faculty, or staff.
