ATU choral artists (mus1581/3581)

Conducted by Dr. Katherine Rohwer, the ATU Choral Artists is the premier choral ensemble at Arkansas Tech University. Open to students across the University, this select ensemble is formed by audition and consists of 24–40 singers committed to a high level of musical excellence.

The ATU Choral Artists explores a wide-ranging repertoire spanning historical periods, styles, and cultures, with an emphasis on artistry, precision, and expressive singing. Members aspire to a professional-level rehearsal and performance process.

The ensemble’s long tradition of excellence includes performances at the National Collegiate Choral Organization Conference (2019) and Regional Conferences of the American Choral Directors Association. Performance opportunities include major campus concerts, community and regional appearances, and touring.

University Singers (MUS 1571 / 3571)

The University Singers is a select ensemble open to students across Arkansas Tech University by audition. Consisting of approximately 50–70 singers, the ensemble performs a broad range of choral repertoire, including treble, tenor–bass, and SATB literature, spanning diverse historical periods, styles, and genres.

The ensemble emphasizes strong musicianship, ensemble collaboration, and expressive performance. Performances include major campus concerts, community engagements, and special University events throughout the academic year.

The University Singers rehearses up to four hours per week and is co-conducted by Dr. Katherine Rohwer and Dr. Jon Clements.

Concert Chorale (MUS 1681 / 3681)

The Concert Chorale is a non-auditioned ensemble open to all Arkansas Tech University students, regardless of major or prior choral experience. With 40–60 members, the ensemble provides an inclusive and supportive environment where singers develop foundational choral skills while exploring a wide range of choral literature.

Concert Chorale emphasizes musical growth, ensemble participation, and the joy of communal singing through regular rehearsals and performances. The ensemble appears in major campus concerts, offering meaningful performance opportunities for both music majors and non-majors alike.

The ensemble is conducted by Dr. Katherine Rohwer.

Rehearsal Schedule:
Tuesday and Thursday
11:00 a.m.–12:20 p.m.


Opera Workshop

This course of study involves selected scenes from standard opera literature prepared for dramatic presentation. Students engage in research related to the historical setting, appropriate costumes, and period-specific mannerisms relevant to each work studied.

Instruction includes staging techniques and set building as deemed necessary for each presentation, providing students with hands-on experience in operatic performance and production.
