what is e-consent
The E-Sign Act requires the Arkansas Tech University Financial Aid Office to obtain
a student’s voluntary consent to participate in electronic transactions for all financial
information provided or made available to student loan borrowers, and for all notices
and authorizations to Federal Student Aid recipients.
Using electronic forms of communication is the fastest and most efficient way to communicate
with you regarding your financial aid. To receive these communications electronically
and to view financial aid awards online, students must first agree to ATU’s E-Consent
policy.
When you agree to conduct business with the ATU Financial Aid Office electronically,
you will be able to:
- Receive email notices regarding missing financial aid documents and award offers
- View and submit missing financial aid documents on OneTech.
- View and accept/reject your financial aid online through the OneTech portal
- Use the secure document upload on the Financial Aid portal to securely upload any
required documents
- Receive electronic notification of loan disbursements- including the amount, date
of disbursement, and right to cancel the loan within 14 days of notice
how to provide e-consent
Log into OneTech using your OneTech user ID and password. Note: Your ATU username
is the part of your email address that comes before the '@' symbol. For example, if
your email is jsmith101@atu.edu, your username is jsmith101.
- Log into your OneTech account and find the Financial Aid Information card.
- Click “Financial Aid Requirements and Document Upload” on this card.
- Click “View Financial Aid Requirements.”
- Choose the appropriate year from the Aid Year drop-down box.
- Choose “VIEW QUESTIONS” inside the red dialog box that says ‘Questions from the Financial
Aid Office’.
- Read the text, then select ‘I Consent (YES)’, then hit submit.
- The red box will disappear, and your account will be updated with your answer within
24 hours
what happens if you don't consent?
If you choose not to consent to electronic transactions with the ATU Financial Aid
Office, please be aware that you will lose access to your Financial Aid portal on
OneTech, and you will not be able to communicate with the office via email or electronic
correspondence.
- All communication will be sent to the current mailing address you have on file with
ATU. This could result in processing delays of up to two weeks depending on mail delivery
times.
- You will have to complete all Financial Aid documents in paper form.
- You cannot use the secure document upload on the Financial Aid portal to securely
upload any required documents. You will need to mail, fax, or deliver the documents
to the office in person.
- No email exchanges will be permitted, and all requests for information must be made
in writing.
- You will still be able to contact the office via phone if needed.
Note that manual, non-electronic alternatives will result in longer and delayed processing
times, and not all services may be available through non-electronic means.
what if you change your mind?
A student may change their mind on e-Consent at any time by requesting to have the
form reset in their financial aid portal. To have the form reset, contact the ATU
Financial Aid Office at (479) 968-0399.
