HPS Delivers program on
homer's odyssey

Nearly fifty members of the ATU community and the public attended an event entitled “ATU Discusses The Odyssey” on Thursday, Aug. 27, in Ross Pendergraft Library. Three members of the ATU faculty offered brief presentations related to The Odyssey, an ancient Greek literary work attributed to Homer that has returned to prominence in the popular culture in 2026 due to the release of a new major motion picture based upon the epic poem. Dr. Peter Dykema, Professor of History, explained the challenge of pinning down the "real history" in Homer's epics; Dr. Kelly Houston Jones, Associate Professor of History, explored the power of The Odyssey's women and their crafts; Dr. Jeff Mitchell, Professor of Philosophy, explained the mindset of Homer's Greeks. Introductions were provided by Eli Vick, President of the ATU History Club.
