General Education Assessment

General Education Assessment

Method of Data Collection and Analysis

Arkansas Tech University faculty submit general education outcomes data into the Banner student information system at the end of each semester. This system houses all CPGE outcome data and is set up according to each department’s scoring system. Each department’s data was exported through the Argos Reporting System by the Assessment Specialist for analysis.

Each department has a unique scoring system for each general education outcome. In some instances, classes within a department have differing scoring systems for the same general education outcome and in many cases the scoring system changed over the many years of data collection. Assignments and questions on assignments are mapped to the outcome being measured. For the purpose of this report, the data was systematically analyzed by program, semester, and course, compiling all data into “Pass” and “Fail” categories.
