Community Involvement Signature Events
Meet the Greeks
This annual event is an opportunity for students to come to the Hindsman Bell Tower and meet all the fraternities and sororites we have avialable during Welcome Week. Although students will have multiple opportunties to meet with our affilated students, this event will allow students to gain one-on-one time with our organizations to see if joining is the right fit for you! This program started in 2012.
Greeks Give Back
Arkansas Tech fraternity and sorority members donate and deliver food items to the local elementary schools for the River Valley Food 4 Kids program. The donated items were gathered as part of the annual Greeks Give Back program administered by the Order of Omega National Greek Honors Society and the ATU Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. The food donated will help ensure that elementary students have access to a reliable supply of nutritious, easy to prepare food. The Greeks Give Back program started in 2013 having raised 22,000 food items for two local elementary schools. Contributions in 2019 have exceeded 40,000 food items and have been donated to four local elementary schools and one local pantry.
Salvation Army Angel Tree
The Arkansas Tech College Panhellenic Council sponsors the Salvation Army Angel Tree program in order for students, staff, and faculty to purchase angels for children in the local community on the ATU campus. The ATU student-led effort to support the Salvation Army Angel Tree program yields the sponsorship of 100-200 children annually. Since its start in 2016, over 650 angels have been adopted.
Red Flag Campaign
Recently adopted by the Interfraternity Council at Arkansas Tech University in the Spring of 2019, the Red Flag Campaign is a public awareness campaign designed to address dating violence and promote the prevention of dating violence on the Arkansas Tech campus. Last year, IFC hosted tabling events to spread awareness about dating violence, and participated in multiple community events including Walk A Mile In Her Shoes.
