Did you know thousands of Arkansas Tech students are the first in their families to attend college? While this can be exciting and a little daunting, it’s a major milestone—and a proud accomplishment! At TECH, we recognize the unique experiences first-generation students face and offer resources to help you connect and thrive.

We define first-generation students as those whose parents or guardians did not graduate from a four-year institution. They make up about one-third of our student body, along with many faculty and staff who were first-generation graduates themselves.
