Welcome To Engineering

Thinking about an engineering education, why Tech? The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) Program and the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) Program are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. Arkansas Tech University is only one of three publically funded universities with ABET accredited BSEE and BSME programs in the state of Arkansas. We also have a Master of Engineering degree program. Our class sizes and those throughout the university are small.

Our engineering classes are all taught by engineering professors or industry professionals. We are a teaching university so students and their educational success is the primary focus of the faculty and the administration.

Degrees and Programs

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

The curriculum creates a solid grounding in the machine design and thermal systems areas to prepare students for practicing engineer positions.

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

The curriculum takes a hands-on approach to research and design while providing creative applications that prepare students for work in the field. The Electrical Engineering department offers three degrees.

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering - Biomedical

The biomedical option within the electrical engineering degree program allows graduates to pursue a career in the biomedical engineering discipline or to pursue a graduate degree in biomedical engineering.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering

The computer engineering degree provides the educational background for engineers to pursue a career in the integrated hardware and software design development cycle for a variety of industries.

Associate of Science in Nuclear Technology

This degree is designed to allow students to obtain the knowledge base and training necessary to work in one of the many areas in the nuclear field.

Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering

The Electrical Engineering Master’s program provides you a solid foundation in both the theory and application in the emerging field of Electrical Engineering and offers you the breadth of education and depth of training necessary for leadership in the profession.

MASTER OF ENGINEERING IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The department of Mechanical Engineering takes an interdisciplinary approach to maximize the students success through a mixture of cutting-edge research, diversified coursework, and world class faculty.

Engineering Organizations

ASHRAEThe global leader, the foremost source of the technical and educational information, and the primary provider of opportunity for professional growth in the arts and sciences of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigerating.

asmeASME's mission is to serve diverse global communities by advancing, disseminating and applying engineering knowledge for improving the quality of life; and communicating the excitement of engineering.

IEEE IEEE's core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.

SAESociety of Automotive Engineers International is a global body of scientists, engineers, and practitioners that advances self-propelled vehicle and system knowledge in a neutral forum for the benefit of society.

What is engineering?

A simple definition is the application of math and science to solve problems and harness nature for the benefit of humankind.

Has an engineer touched your life today? From the second you wake up until the second you go to sleep, the work of engineers has an impact on your life. It begins with the alarm clock, the water out of the faucet, every switch you turn on, every text, your car, the road, the computer, the remote, the thermostat for your HVAC system in your house, the packaged food you eat, etc. Is your life better because of engineers... you bet!

Electrical and mechanical engineering are two fundamental engineering disciplines. Our graduates work in a variety of fields from designing electronics for jets, manufacturing, to the production of power. The list is long and broad.

Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or if you would like to meet with an education advisor to discuss career options.
