 Weekly Offerings

 

Monthly Offerings

  • Full Professor Gathering, second Monday of each month from 1:30-2:30 pm, in The Outlet (BazTech 204) or via WebEx (led by Sandy Smith, Newt Hilliard, and David Eshelman)

  • Book Group, last Monday of the month at 2:30 pm, in The Outlet (BazTech 204) or via WebEx (led by Erin Clair, contact eclair@atu.edu)
  • ATU Faculty Trail Explorers
    • Hiking - Monthy day trips to trails outside of the Russellville area

      Pedestal Rock/Kings Bluff, Glory Hole, Hawksbill Crag/Whitaker Point, White Rock, sections of the Ozark Highland Trail, Pinnacle Mtn SP, Seven Hollows – Petit Jean SP, Cedar Falls – Petit Jean SP, Lake Catherine SP, Hot Springs NP, etc… Maybe one day start a travel to all 52 State Parks in Arkansas. 
      These would be Saturday hikes meeting early morning to carpool to/from the trailhead.  Depending on travel time, these could be half day to full day.  These would be easy to moderate hiking terrain.  Each person would need to bring water, snacks/lunch, and clothing conducive to the weather.  Each faculty member could bring one guest.  We will keep the pace group sizes 4-12 persons.  There will be at least one group photo per trip.

    • Walking - Twice a month the group will walk a trail withing the Russellville area.
      Bona Dea Park (paved), Pleasant View Park (paved), Illinois Bayou Park (paved), Ouita Coal Company Mtn Bike Trails (unpaved), Old Post Mtn Biking Trails (unpaved), and soccer complex (paved) 
      These would be evening walks (maybe meeting at 5, 6, or 7pm).  We could carpool or meet at the parks.  These would be mostly easy terrain for 1-2 miles depending on the group.  Each person would need to bring water and clothing conducive to the weather.  Each faculty member could bring one guest.  We will keep the pace group sizes 4-12 persons.  There will be at least one group photo per trip. 

 

One-Time Events:

  • August 26, 4:00 pm, Ribbon cutting of The Outlet (Faculty/Staff Lounge), BazTech 204 (Led by Gina Kraft)
  • September 18, 9:00 am, Hiking Excursion (Led by Jay Post)
    Meet at Pendergraft Library parking lot. Carpool to King's Bluff/Pedestal Rock Trailhead. Hike King's Bluff Loop (1.8 miles). Have an early picnic lunch at the waterfall overlook on the trail. Return to campus by 1:00 pm.

    Meat at 7 am at the ATU Library parking lot to carpool to the trailhead. Each person needs to bring water, snacks/lunch, and clothing conducive to the weather.  Each faculty member could bring one guest.  We will keep the pace group sizes 4-12 persons.

  • Tues. Nov. 9 - Walking Group led by Jay Post - Pleasant View Park
    Meet at the parking lot by the competition ski course at 4:30 pm. This is a paved trail. Each person needs to bring water and clothing conducive to the weather. Each faculty member can bring one guest. We will keep the pace group sizes 4-12 persons.
  • Mon. Nov. 22 - Walking Group led by Jay Post - Old Post Mountain Bike Trails (don't worry, easy walk)
    Meet at the parking lot at 4:30 pm. This is an unpaved trail. Each person needs to bring water and clothing conducive to the weather. Each faculty member can bring one guest. We will keep the pace group sizes 4-12 persons.
  • Wed. Dec. 1 - Walking Group led by Jay Post - Illinois Bayou Trail
    Meet at the parking lot at 4:30 pm. This is a paved trail. Each person needs to bring water and clothing conducive to the weather. Each faculty member can bring one guest. We will keep the pace group sizes 4-12 persons.

  • Sat. Dec. 4 - Hiking Group led by Jay Post - Hawksbill Crag
