WHY NAGOYA UNIVERSITY OF FOREIGN STUDIES: Since opening its doors in 1988, NUFS, a private co-ed university with a student population of approximately 4,000, has developed into a nationally renowned institution for global education. As the first foreign studies university in the Central Japan region, NUFS has always strived for progress in the international studies and foreign language fields. Through an exchange at NUFS, students garner a practical, contemporary, and experiential knowledge of Japan.

Nagoya is located at the centre of Honshu (the main island of Japan) with a population of 2.24 million. Its central location means that it is only 1 hour 40 minutes to Tokyo, 50 minutes to Osaka, and 35 minutes to Kyoto all on Japan's convenient bullet train system. Part of the fun of a study abroad is thoroughly exploring your new home. Take in the historical sites in and around Nagoya, enjoy the local cuisine and sake breweries in the Chubu region, and create lifelong friendships with the locals.
