COVID-19 Testing

COVID-19 Testing

The HWC will be offering COVID-19 testing to all students, faculty and staff who are symptomatic or have been exposed to the virus. Please have your health insurance information available to share with the Health and Wellness Center staff for testing purposes.

Testing for Students

Students should call the Health and Wellness Center to set up an appointment to see a provider. If it is after 5:00 pm Monday-Friday or on Saturday or Sunday, please contact your medical provider, urgent care clinic, or emergency room for evaluation. If your health care provider suspects you may have COVID-19 or you are tested for COVID-19, please isolate at home and contact the Health and Wellness Center at (479) 968-0329 during normal operating hours of Monday – Friday from 8am-5pm.

Testing for Employees

Employees should call the Health and Wellness Center if they think they may have COVID-19 or if they have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19. The HWC does not offer medical visits to employees, however they will be offering testing to faculty and staff for COVID-19.

Returning to normal after testing positive

Please review the following processes to determine appropriate steps for returning to normal after testing positive:

  1. Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 (regardless of vaccination status) must:

    1. isolate at home for five days from the date symptoms first appeared or, if asymptomatic, the date of the positive test.
    2. stay away from others in the household as much as possible during isolation.
    3. after five days, if you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving and you have not had fever for more than 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, you may end isolation
    4. if symptoms are not improving or fever has not resolved, you should continue isolating until these criteria are met.
    5. after ending isolation, you should continue to wear a mask around others for five days.
    6. surgical masks and N95 masks are preferred in avoiding transmission of the Omicron variant.

  2. Individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19, have received all recommended doses of the vaccine AND have been boosted if eligible, or have had a COVID positive viral test in the last 90 days:

    1. do not need to quarantine at home.
    2. should wear a mask around others for 10 days.
    3. if possible, get tested on day five.
    4. if symptoms develop, get tested and isolate at home until test results are received, then proceed in accordance with the test results.

  3. Individuals who are unvaccinated, or became fully vaccinated more than five months ago (Moderna or Pfizer vaccine) or more than two months ago (Johnson and Johnson vaccine) and have not received a booster:

    1. must quarantine at home for five days; after that, continue to wear a mask around others for five additional days.
    2. if possible, get tested on day five.
    3. if you develop symptoms, get tested and isolate at home until test results are received, then proceed in accordance with the test results.

Persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 who never develop COVID-19 symptoms may discontinue isolation after at least 10 days following the date of their positive RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 RNA.
