Dr. Samuel Revis

VISITING LECTURER OF MUSIC AND TUBA

BIOGRAPHY

An Arkansas native, Dr. Samuel A. Revis is currently serving as the Visiting Lecturer of Music and Tuba at Arkansas Tech University. As an active performer, Revis has performed with a multitude of large ensembles including the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, ProMusica Arizona Orchestra and Chorale, the Salt River Brass Band, the Conway Symphony Orchestra, and the MusicaNova Orchestra. In addition to large ensemble performance, he is also an avid chamber musician and has been a member of a variety of groups including the Arrows duo with Dr. Gail Robertson where the two premiered her Pointed, Spiked, and Barbed Arrows, the Toad Suck Tuba Quartet, Superstition Brass Quintet, A5 Brass Quintet, Salt River Brass Quintet and the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet. He has performed across the United States and internationally, recently performing at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference in Valencia, Spain and the South-Central Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference in El Paso, Texas.

Revis received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Central Arkansas where he studied with Dr. Gail Robertson before continuing on to study with Dr. Deanna Swoboda at Arizona State for his Doctor of Musical Arts. As a composer, Revis’s compositions and arrangements are available through Pinnacle Brass Publishing and on euphonium.com. His works are designed to provide new, programmatic solos and chamber works for low brass performers.
