BIOGRAPHY

KaShema Washington has proudly served Arkansas Tech University’s Division of Student Affairs since 2014. With more than ten years of experience in both Testing and Disability Services, she brings a caring, student-focused approach to her role as Assistant Director. KaShema helps guide testing coordination and disability support across campus, working to ensure that every student has the tools and access they need to thrive at ATU. Her dedication to supporting others is shaped by a strong background in service and advocacy. Before joining higher education, KaShema completed field placements in adult probation, parole, and drug court settings. These experiences strengthened her ability to listen, empathize, and understand the unique challenges people face. These insights continue to guide her work with students today. KaShema earned her Bachelor of Arts in Rehabilitation Science from Arkansas Tech University, with an emphasis in Social Services and Corrections. She is passionate about helping students overcome barriers and reach their goals, whether that means navigating accommodations, preparing for an exam, or adjusting to college life. Above all, KaShema is committed to creating a welcoming environment where every student feels heard, supported, and confident in the journey ahead.
