  • Know your student type: First-time students, transferring students, and first-time international students. Student type also includes whether you are applying for undergraduate or graduate school.
  • Know which ATU campus you should be attending for your student type.
  • Be prepared to provide some basic information to get started, like the prior high school and/or institutions you have already attended, as well as your contact information and some demographic information.

DETERMINE WHICH CAMPUS WILL BE YOUR CAMPUS:  ATU is one university with two campuses located in Russellville and Ozark. Some coursework and degree programs are unique to a specific campus. You'll need to determine which campus matches your academic choices. Why do we do this?  Because ATU has analyzed the local needs of Arkansans and responded to offer greater access and a greater range of academic solutions for our communities and beyond. WHAT'S YOUR STUDENT TYPE?:  Each type of student will have a unique application process. The experience will be different for a first-time student applying to the Russellville campus vs. an international graduate student seeking a Master's degree. Identify your student type on the next tab.

WHEN DO YOU THINK YOU'LL START AT ATU?:  It's the first thing we need to know from you. If you aren't sure, pick the most likely start time from the selection of choices.

Helpful words and Terms When Applying

We hope this helps you!  Here is a sample of words you may be less familiar when applying and enrolling at ATU.  We hope this helps you!

Words And phrases used in the enrollment process.

  • Apply:  To submit an application to be considered for admission to ATU.  
  • Applicant:  That's you when you apply to ATU!
  • Admissions:  Admissions is the team that support you when you apply.
  • Accepted/Admitted:    When a student is officially allowed to enroll in a school or program after applying.
  • Enrolled:   A student has officially registered for- or is participating in classes at ATU.  This involves completing the necessary admission requirements, selecting courses, and meeting tuition requirements.
  • Undergraduate Student:  A student enrolled in a program leading up to a bachelor’s degree.
  • Graduate Student:  A student who has completed a bachelor's degree and is working toward a higher degree, like a master's or doctorate. 
  • ATU Campus Locations:  Russellville, AR and Ozark, AR
  • First-time Student:  A student who is entering college for the first time after earning their high school or general education diploma.  
  • Student-Type:  Your student-type is a match of your conditions to help identify and aid you in your application process.  More information here.
  • Returning Student:  Students who have attended ATU previously without obtaining a degree or certificate, and are coming back, re-enrolling, with the intention of graduating.
  • Concurrent Student:  Referring to students who are enrolled in high school and college courses at the same time.
  • Transfer Student:  A student who moves from a college or university to ATU.

Need Enrollment Support?

Apply for FREE if you are a first-time, transfer, returning, or concurrent undergraduate student! You're a first-time student if your expected high school graduation date is spring 2025, or you have already graduated from high school but have not enrolled at any college, university, or other school.
