How ATU Learns of Positive COVID-19 Cases

The Arkansas Tech University Health and Wellness Center (HWC) has collaborated with other universities and the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) to develop strategies for accurate accounting of positive tests on campus.

There are three ways the ATU Health & Wellness Center can learn of a positive test:

  1. If the positive test was rendered at the HWC.

  2. If a positive test rendered through an off-campus health care provider is subsequently reported to the HWC by phone (479-968-0329), e-mail (hwc@atu.edu) or through the COVID-19 reporting form at https://atu.medicatconnect.com.

  3. The fail safe that has been developed through a cooperative effort by Arkansas Tech, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), ADH and other universities is our collaborative contact tracing procedure. Documentation gathered through that procedure includes if an individual is a student, faculty member or staff member at a particular university. This allows each campus to gain an accurate accounting of its positive cases, take appropriate action to support the COVID-19 positive individual and limit the spread of the virus on campus. This information is gathered and protected in a manner consistent with the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
