AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF MEDICAL ASSISTANTS (AAMA) EXAMINATION

BACKGROUND:

The American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) examination covers a wide variety of subjects that include medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, legal concepts, human relations, pharmacology, exam room procedures, administrative and clerical duties, and coding to name a few. This multiple-choice exam is required for re-certification of medical assistants and is highly recommended for graduates of a CAAHEP accredited program. CAAHEP stands for Commission on the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions administered in four 40-minute segments. Beginning in January 2009, the exam will be computer-based only.
