Summer Housing
Summer housing offers you the opportunity to take advantage of campus resources, take summer classes, and save on commuting time at a pretty reasonable rate. Wanting to finish your degree faster? Residence Life offers special discounts for students enrolling in at least 6 summer credit hours.
Application opens March 01, 2023. Apply for summer housing through the housing portal/additional housing/summer (click button below).
Summer 2023 housing Dates
Dates: May 07, 2023 at noon to August 6, 2023 at noon.
Students must apply for summer housing through the housing portal and select the dates needed from date of check-in (no earlier than May 07) to date of check-out (no later than August 6).
Housing charges will depend on the number of nights selected (# of nights X nightly rate per person), hours enrolled, and lenght of stay. See nightly charges and special discounts below.
Current spring residents staying until the end of spring (May 03) applying to live on campus for the summer starting May 07 will be able to remain on campus until their summer room is ready at no extra charge.
Important Dates for Summer Residents
Transitioning from Summer to Fall Housing:
- All halls except M Street and Nutt: Friday, July 28 from 9am to 5pm
- Key to summer room returned: By Monday, July 31 at noon
- M Street and Nutt: Friday, August 04 from 9am to 5pm
- Key to summer room returned: By Monday, August 07 at noon
Not Staying for Fall:
- Must check out by Sunday, August 06 at noon
Summer 2023 housing Special Discounts to finish your degree faster
1. LIVE ON CAMPUS THREE MONTHS. PAY FOR TWO.
Must meet all requirements below:
- Enroll in 6 summer credit hours overall summer
- Live in Turner or the University Commons*
- Current ATU student
- Good academic and conduct standing
- Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
- Sign an academic year contract and live on campus during Fall 2023
- Submit a summer contract before the deadline of May 08
* Only residents with a Fall 2023 booking in the University Commons will be allowed to live there in the summer.

SUMMER 2023 Room Prepayment
A $50 room prepayment will be required to secure a spot on campus for summer. This prepayment will be refunded to the student's account on or before August 1st.

These rates are for students not eligible for special discounts: Live on campus for
three months and pay for two, or free housing (see above).
University Commons housing will only be provided for students with a Fall 2023 booking for the University Commons. All other residents will be assigned based on preference and availability.

SUMMER HOUSING Eligibility Requirements
University housing is available to students who are officially admitted to the university
and who are enrolled
- To be eligible to be a resident in a University residence hall or apartment during
summer terms a person must:
- Be enrolled in a Summer Session (May, June/July, or July/August), or
- Be a current Spring 2023 resident.
- Be a Fall 2023 resident.
- Online Only students are eligible to live on campus.
- The University reserves the right not to contract with persons who are currently violating or have previously violated the terms and conditions of a housing contract or other University rules or regulations, or who have a past due balance with the University.
Summer Room Placement
- Residence Life will assign rooms to all applicants who signed a summer contract.
- University Commons housing will only be provided for students with a Fall 2023 booking for the University Commons.
- Room assignments will be emailed the last week of April including instructions for:
- move-in, or
- to move from spring housing to summer housing.
Summer Contract and Cancellations
- Residents are urged to submit a housing application only if they are certain they wish to reside in campus housing.
- Contract cancellation dates and fees:
- Residents who cancel their contract within five (5) business days of the date of submission of the contract to the ATU Residence Life Office will forfeit their entire prepayment ($50).
- Residents who cancel their contract within ten (10) business days of the date of submission of the contract to the ATU Residence Life Office will forfeit their entire prepayment ($50) and a $250 cancellation fee shall be imposed by placing it on the student’s Arkansas Tech University account.
- After initial term has started or resident has checked-in and received a key, this contract may only be cancelled by the student for the following reasons: graduation, student teaching or academic internship, marriage, or military leave.

Residents are required to purchase a meal plan unless living in the University Commons Apartments. Summer 2023 meal plans available below.

- Resident will select their meal plan in the housing portal after room is assigned.

- If the first meal plan runs out, students may add up to one additional meal plan.
To add additional plan:
- Make sure account is paid in full or you are on a current term payment plan. This is necessary before the additional meal plan is activated.
- Email Student Accounts at cardoffice@atu.edu with Tnumber, name, and which additional plan is needed.
