If a student has a maintenance request or other concerns regarding the physical upkeep of their room (plumbing problem, broken heater, etc.), the student must submitt a maintenance request online. In emergency situations, such as exposed wires, overflowing toilets, floods, etc.  they can call 968-0376 between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. If a serious maintenance concern arises after 5:00 p.m. or during the weekend, the student should contact their Resident Assistant, Resident Director or the front desk staff.

It is important that you report problems by submitting a maintenance request, before they become an emergency. Physical Plant will respond to a problem no later than 72 hours after a maintenance request has been received.

For example:

  1. Please report your bathtub draining slowly vs. your bathtub has standing water and won’t drain at all.

  2. Please report the pipe under the sink dripping vs. the pipe has been leaking for a month and now has a steady stream of water.

Little problems can be avoided with preventative measures.

On-Duty Personnel
A member of the Office of Residence Life Staff is on duty at all times. If you have a security, maintenance or other concern from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday, please call the Housing Operations Office at 356-2060. After 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, you may contact the RA on-duty for your building or call the Resident Director on-duty for the residence halls, please dial 264-9871. To reach the staff member on duty for the University Commons, please dial 264-9872 and for Vista Place, please dial 747-8026.
