Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
Arkansas Tech University endorses and supports the humane care and use of animals in research and teaching. In accordance with federal law and university policy, the university’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is charged with overseeing compliance with federal regulations related to the treatment and use of animals for purposes of research or teaching. The goal of IACUC is to interpret federal regulations practically and in a reasonable matter and to encourage and promote research and teaching, while being mindful of applicable regulations to always ensure the safe care of animals.
IACUC must approve any activity involving the use of live vertebrate animals. These activities include on-site research or teaching, agricultural research or teaching, and field research or teaching. Faculty members may find a separate application for each activity on this site. Also included is an administrative cover sheet, which must always be completed by the faculty member(s) and submitted with the appropriate application. Please allow 3 - 4 weeks for applications to be reviewed. Applications should be emailed to ospui@atu.edu.
