Graduate Applications - Required Documents

1. $50 International Application Fee: Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover): If you have a Student ID number (T-Number) enter that information as well. This fee is separate from your $40 Graduate application fee. Please pay online on the following link: https://quikpayasp.com/atu/commerce_manager/payer.do?orderType=Intl%20Application%20Fee
   
   
2. Transcripts: Please submit any transcripts, mark sheets, evidence of degree conferred, and any other country specific documentation showing completion of a U.S.  4-year Bachelor degree.
   
   
   1. Unofficial transcripts may be used for the admission process only. Official transcripts are required to register for classes. If you have not already done so, please request official transcripts be sent to our university.
      
      
   2. All transcripts must be originals or school-certified copies of originals with official English translations. Notarized copies are not accepted.  Official transcripts should be submitted from all colleges/universities where a student has been officially registered (both foreign and U.S.)
      
      
   3. Applicants submitting foreign transcripts must submit a credential evaluation as performed through one of the companies authorized by Arkansas Tech University:

2. Bank Statement of Financial Support: A scanned copy of the original document may be sent via email. Approximately $20,844 (USD) in accessible funds is needed for one academic year (nine months) of graduate study. A current financial statement must be no more than six months old. Please add an additional $3,000 for each dependent.

3. Copy of Valid Passport: A scanned copy may be sent by email.
   • If you are currently in the US on a student visa please include a scan of your visa and 1st page of your current I-20.

• Transcripts showing evidence of Master's degree from an accredited college.
• Writing sample from previous role. (This can be in the form of a thesis, research paper, term paper, article, or product from your professional role.)
• 500 word essay on your background, professional and academic career goals, and the reason pursuing a doctoral degree.
• Three letters of recommendation addressing profession and/or academic background along with an assessment of your potential for scholarly work
  • Please note: this program only admits NEW applicants to Summer terms. Returning students may apply to Spring or Fall.

  • Applicants must hold a Standard Teaching License.

• Arkansas Teaching License (not required) - Those without licensure must submit a 2-page essay on why you want to be a school librarian.

• Documentation of at least three years teaching experience. (A letter from the Superintendent or designee is required.) 
• Three letters of recommendation from principals, superintendents, college faculty, or similar educational leaders that attest to the applicant’s potential for effective educational leadership. Helpful documentation may include any of the following: 
  • National Board-Certified Teacher 
  • Leadership Training (Teacher Leader Academy, ESL Academy, etc.) 
  • Related Micro-credentials (effective teaching, leadership, etc.) 
  • Evidence of ability to raise student achievement 
  • Other evidence adult leadership activities
  • Optional Documents:
    • Documentation of a current “effective” or “highly effective” TESS rating. (If applicant is from outside Arkansas, then an equivalent rating may be substituted.) 
    • Documentation of the appropriate Pathways Proficiency Credential or evidence that he/she is currently progressing along one of the Pathways for Proficiency approved by DESE. If the latter, Phase 1 training documentation is required prior to graduation or program completion. 

• Standard teaching license or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in psychology, rehabilitation, science, or sociology. Related fields will be examined on an individual basis.

Applicants missing any of the above required items seeking conditional admission should include that request along with a detailed explanation about how the Master of Music Education program will further the applicant's professional goals in the writing sample.

• Letter of Intent that addresses interests, goals, and reasons for applying to the program. 
• Transcript showing completion of Completed HIM 3023 (Introduction to Health Information Management) & COMS 2203 (Programming Foundations II) or demonstrate comparable background. The background may be demonstrated by previous coursework or by relative work experience, as determined by the MSHI Graduate Committee.

• Short essay explaining why you think you are a good fit for this degree. 

• IF your cumulative GPA is below 3.0, you will need to submit a GRE score to be considered for unconditional admission
• Three letters of recommendation from former instructors, employers, or other professionals in your community.
• Statement of Intent that provides your professional goals.

Please note: This program ONLY admits new students in Fall terms. An interview with the counseling faculty is required and will be conducted as part of the application review process.

• Resume or vitae highlighting any co-curricular experiences and/or student affairs experience.  
• Submit names and contact information from two previous/current faculty or supervisors who can attest to your ability to succeed in an academic setting.  
• Reflective writing sample, consisting of 3 short-answer reflection items, which include:  
  • What does student affairs mean to you and how do you see yourself contributing to the field; 
  • Explain how your undergraduate grade point average reflects or does not reflect your ability to succeed at the graduate level; and 
  • What can faculty and classmates expect from you in the classroom and/or virtual classroom? Please share the delivery method (online; face-to-face; or both) you plan to use to complete the degree and your work plans for the upcoming term. 

• Unencumbered U.S. license to practice as a registered nurse without a history of disciplinary action of any kind. 
• Transcript showing BSN degree from an accredited (ACEN or CCNE) nursing program. (Docs: College Transcript) 

• An overall 3.50 GPA from an AACSB or ACBSP accredited business undergraduate program  OR Submit either Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores to the Graduate College.
