What Is the Teaching, Learning, & Leadership Program?

Two tracks are available within the MTLL program. One track serves the career teacher who has mastered classroom teaching and learning, and wants to expand individual leadership skills to the school community in the role of the master teacher, Instructional Facilitator, and/or curriculum administrator.

The second track is the Non-Traditional Teacher (NTL), which is designed for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree and desire an Arkansas teaching license. Available at the middle and secondary levels, this program immerses students in pedagogical skills for quality classroom practices.

If you are pursuing a degree via the Master or Arts in Teaching program or the Master of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership Non-Traditional licensure program, you must submit your official ACT scores. You must achieve scores, at minimum, of 19 in Reading, 19 in Mathematics, and complete the Writing subtest. You must complete this submission of ACT scores prior to the completion of the first 12 hours of the respective program of study to continue in the program.  You will not be admitted to Graduate Candidacy without these scores.

Minimum Curriculum Administrator Option requirements for unconditional admission:
  1. Meet admission requirements for Graduate College.

  2. Teaching experience (two years preferred).

  3. Approval from the Program Director.
Minimum Non-Traditional Teacher Option requirements for unconditional admission:
  1. Meet admission requirements for Graduate College.

  2. Submit passing scores for Arkansas for the ACT (Reading, Writing, Mathematics).

  3. Approval from the Program Director.
