15: MLK Day of Remembrance and Community Service at 5:00pm in the Hindsman Bell Tower and 5:30 p.m. at the Young Ballroom

There will be a campus march from the Bell Tower to Young Ballroom and a campus-wide service project at the Young Ballroom in honor of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.

18: Money, Money, Money Summit at 4:00pm - 5:00pm in Doc Bryan 133

In partnership with Financial Aid and Student Accounts, DDI will host a financial literacy and resource summit. The purpose of this event is to provide intentional engagement between underrepresented student populations and the staffs of both offices. Students will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about their finances at Tech. Both offices will provide students with important dates, resources, and tips for financial student success. 

February 2018

1: Black History Month Kickoff (On Track) at 12:00pm, at Hindsman Bell Tower

DDI invites the entire campus to an event celebrating the start of Black History Month. Participants will learn about the beginnings of Black History Month and hear the sounds of the United Voices of Praise, and hear testimonies from representatives of the African American Student Association.

27: Black Histoty Month KeynoteSpeaker at 7:00pm - 8:00pm in Doc Bryan Lecture Hall (On Track)

Monti Washington is a mentor and motivator who created the interactive presentation, "From the Streets to the Stage," designed to help students gain the problem solving skills needed to be successful inside and outside of the classroom. Through crowd participation, story telling, and other unique forms of entertainment, students will be engaged, encouraged, and empowered to make it from the streets of their minds, to the stage of their dreams.

March 2018

1: Test Anxiety Workshop at 4:00pm - 5:00pm in Doc Bryan 133

Learn how to cope with test and anxiety. Hosted by Craig Witcher, a counselor from the Health & Wellness Center. Topics to be discussed include but are not limited to: Learning signs and symptoms of test anxiety, where test anxiety comes from, and ways to manage test anxiety include:

- Improved study skills

- Relaxation techniques

- How to access counseling services

Similar to the event hosted in January, this follow-up session will focus on assisting students in completing the FAFSA for the 2018-2019 academic year. Students will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about their finances at Tech. Both offices will provide students with important dates, resources, and tips for financial student success. Hosted by Financial Aid Office and Student Accounts Office.

12: Diversity Through the Lens of Arts at 6:00pm - 8:00pm in Norman Art Building (On Track)

DDI hosts an art competition for ATU students. The competition allows students to express their artistic abilities as they reflect on the topic of diversity. A reception is hosted following the event. 

27: Multicultural Stole Ceremony at 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in Doc Bryan Lecture Hall

The Department of Diversity and Inclusion will recognize graduating students receiving academic honors and for collegiate involvement and participation in the Multicultural Stole Ceremony. This ceremony is a celebration in the students’ accomplishment of degree attainment.
