Professor Ring's recent sculptural projects investigate the complexity of how cultural identities are entangled in our objects through his re-materialized artifacts, simulated landscape elements, and photographs of site-specific installations.

Haptic materials like clay, paper pulp, and wax are prevalent in his studio because of their formability in a spectrum spanning accurate depiction to expressive interpretation. Contrasting the haptic, steel or wooden fabrications and digitally rendered forms communicate the dichotomies that exist in networks of humans and things, technology and nature.
