Sigma Delta Pi recognizes high-achieving students of Spanish.

In addition to academic excellence, candidates for membership must demonstrate a keen interest in the Spanish language and a desire and commitment to promote the study of Hispanic language, literature and culture.

Requirements for memberships:

Completion of at least three semesters of college course work.
Completion of at least 18 semester hours of college-level Spanish or the equivalent, including at least three semester hours of a third-year literature or civilization and culture course (i.e. 3000-level or higher) at Arkansas Tech University.
A grade average of B or better in all college-level Spanish courses completed.
A cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or better in all college courses completed.

Sigma Delta Pi activities:

•      monthly meetings
•      lower-level-tutoring for Tech students
•      lectures by outside academics
•      workshops for Hispanic parents and students about the value of higher education, academic
       preparation for college, and financial aid opportunities
•      English language instruction for Spanish-speaking students and immigrants
•      translation help during parent-teacher conferences in the Russellville School District
•      interpretation help at River Valley Clinic in Dardanelle
•      participation in Oakland Heights Elementary School's Hispanic Celebration Day
