The ACT Compass is a computer adaptive college placement test used by Arkansas Tech University (ATU) to:
ATU accepts Compass scores for general admission purposes. High school students may also take the exam to establish eligibility for enrollment in concurrent high school courses. Prospective applicants may review admission requirements, including minimum entrance exam scores, at http://www.atu.edu/admissions/requirements.php. Examinees may take each section of the Compass once per day but no more than three times in a thirty day period.
Exams may be scheduled by calling the Office of University Testing at (479) 968-0302, or by stopping by in person at the Doc Bryan Student Services Building, Suite 171.
Students requiring test accommodations due to disability should submit their request to the Director, University Testing and Disability Services at least 30 days before the desired test date in order to allow adequate time to review the request and any associated documentation. The Office of University Testing requires payment of the following fees prior to the admission of the exam:
The exam fee must be paid by cash, debit, or credit card to the Office of Students Accounts prior to administration of the test. Personal checks will not be accepted. The fee may be paid in person or by contacting a Student Accounts representative at (479) 968-0271. The examinee must show proof of payment and a photo I.D. on the day of the test.
The Academic Advising Center, located in Rothwell Hall, Suite 107, administers the Compass exam free of charge up to three times to students who meet the following criteria:
Students are not permitted to test at Academic Advising and University Testing on the same day or more than three times in a 30 day period between both testing labs. Students exceeding the test attempt limit are subject to score cancellation.
Students who do not reside in the Russellville, AR area may take the Compass exam remotely at another testing center. Students should first contact the Office of University Testing and provide the name of the center they plan to test, or provide their zip code if they need assistance with locating an approved test center.
The University Testing Coordinator/designee will register the student for the exam. ACT Compass will send a confirmation email to the student with information on how and where to take the test. The student will be responsible for paying any associated proctor fees to the remote test site.
Examinees must contact University Testing in advance of their scheduled test date and time if the need to reschedule should arise. Test fees will be forfeited if the examinee does not show for their scheduled test appointment.
