College Level Examination Program (CLEP) CLEP allows students to earn credit toward graduation by attaining Tech’s qualifying score on either the general and/or subject examinations. A student may acquire a maximum of 30 hours of college credit through CLEP. Credit earned through CLEP may satisfy general education requirements; however, to be awarded credit students must complete with passing grades one regular semester of work at Tech. No more than one subject examination may be taken in a particular departmental area, and students must have prior approval from the department in which they are majoring to count the hours toward graduation. It is recommended that an ACT sub-score of 24 or above or an SAT sub-score of 500 or above be used as a guideline for attempting to earn credit through CLEP. Following are the CLEP examinations that Tech will accept, the corresponding qualifying score required, and credit awarded. This is a computer based 90 minute timed test. COST PER TEST: $72.00 (to CLEP; Visa, Mastercard, American Express or checks/money orders payable to CLEP) $ 15.00 (to ATU; cash only) $87.00 TOTAL Additional Information: CLEP Computer-Based Testing CLEP Test Sites CLEP Credit Awarding Institutions in Arkansas CLEP Transcript Evaluation Requests | General Examination | Qualifying Score | Credit Awarded | | College Mathematics | 50 | Math 1103 | | English Composition with Essay | 50 | ENGL 1013 | | | 59 | ENGL 1013 & ENGL 1023 | | Natural Sciences | 56 | BIOL 1014, PHSC 1013, PHSC 1021 | | Social Sciences & History | 50 | HIST 1503 | | | 56 | HIST 1503 & HIST 1513 | | Subject Examination | Qualifying Score | Credit Awarded | | American Government | 50 | POLS 2003 | | American Literature | 50 | ENGL 2013 | | Calculus | 49 | MATH 2914 | | College Algebra | 50 | MATH 1113 | | Freshmen College Composition (must complete an essay at TECH | 50 | ENGL 1013 | | | 55 | ENGL 1013 & ENGL 1023 | | College-Level French Language | 42 | FR 1014 | | | 50 | FR 1014 & FR 1024 | | College-Level German Language | 43 | GER 1014 | | | 55 | GER 1014 & GER 1024 | | College-Level Spanish Language | 45 | SPAN 1014 | | | 55 | SPAN 1014 & SPAN 1024 | | English Literature | 50 | ENGL 3413 | | | 55 | ENGL 3413 & ENGL 3423 | | General Biology | 50 | BIOL 1014 or BIOL 1114 | | General Chemistry | 50 | CHEM 2124 | | | 55 | CHEM 2124 & CHEM 2134 | | History of the United States I: Early Colonization to 1877 | 49 | HIST 2003 | | History of the United States II: 1865 to Present | 49 | HIST 2013 | | Information Systems & Computer Applications | 52 | COMS 1003 | | Introductory Psychology | 50 | PSY 2003 | | Introductory Sociology | 50 | SOC 1003 | | Precalculus | 50 | MATH 1914 |
