In 1992, ZTA adopted The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as its national philanthropy. Later, the Fraternity broadened its focus to encompass not only the Komen Foundation, but also other educational means dedicated to fighting breast cancer through education, awareness and promoting breast health. Each alumnae and collegiate chapter generally volunteers with one or more local philanthropy of its  choosing in addition to their support of the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation and ZTA's national philanthropy. Today, our National Philanthropy is Breast Cancer Education and Awareness . See THINK-PINK!®, NFL, Yoplait, Courage Night and Susan G Komen Race for the Cure® Survivor Program for detailed information. The focus of breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment has brought enthusiastic support from alumnae and collegians, whose mothers, grandmothers, sisters and friends have been touched by the disease. In return for this outstanding volunteer contribution, the Komen Foundation awarded the Jill Ireland Award to Zeta Tau Alpha. The ZTA Foundation furnishes more than a quarter of a million dollars to breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment each biennium.

Heartfelt support comes from the ZTA Foundation's co-sponsorship of Komen's Survivor program. Breast cancer survivors are given badges of honor, a special visor and button, to wear during Race events, while all runners receive back signs to wear in memory or celebration of loved ones with breast cancer. Thousands of ZTA volunteers rise before dawn to staff Race for the Cure events in 65 cities.

Theta Theta and ZTA's around the world fight the battle against breast cancer by supporting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  Each fall, in conjunction with Arkansas Tech University Homecoming activities, the members of Theta Theta host the 5K "Run for Your Life"  to raise money for the Komen Foundation.

Each April 1, ZTAs participate in the annual Don't Be A Fool, Do Breast Self-Examinations event and distribute over one million waterproof shower cards across the nation that illustrate breast self-examination and can be prominently displayed in the shower.  In October, fraternity members distribute pink ribbons throughout the community to be worn in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
