Catherine Martin joined ATU as an Adjunct Speech and Theatre Instructor in 2009 and is now a full time Visiting Professor of Speech and Theatre. She graduated from ATU in 1999 with a B. A. in Speech, then attended Florida Atlantic University for an M.F.A in Theatrical Performance through 2001, and is scheduled to complete an M.L.A. degree from Arkansas Tech with an emphasis in Fine Arts and Theatrical Pedagogy. Catherine has been in the theatre her whole life and has directed, produced, written, designed and acted in over 50 various productions including Off-Broadway, professional theatre, community theatre, and even sketch comedy. She has worked with local productions and groups to help promote and improve the quality of Performing Arts in the River Valley Community since 2007. Catherine has taught Theatre and Acting at Florida Atlantic University, New York Film Academy, and at Princeton University Summer Programs for youth. Some of her academic interests include movement and theory techniques for actors and public speakers to help manage nervousness for performance, organic theatrical movement techniques for actors and dancers, special effects for the stage, movie making, editing, scenic design and painting for the theatre. She is currently teaching both Speech and Theatre courses. She enjoys canoeing, hiking, fishing, and of course, theatre.
