How to Disable IPv6 Using Windows Vista

  1. Click on the Start button.

  2. Right-Click on Network and select Properties.

  3. This will bring up the Network and Sharing Center. Click on Manage Network Connections. This will show a list of Connections available.

  4. Then right-click on the relevant Local Area Connection (as shown below) and select Properties. If the Local Area Connection does not appear, the network adapter may need to be reinstalled.

  5. In order to properly communicate with the network, Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) should be installed and listed, as shown below.

  6. You will need to uncheck the following:
    - Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
    - Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver
    - Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder

  7. Double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) to bring up the TCP/IP settings window. To connect to ResNet, the Local Area Connection must be set up to Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically as shown below.
