Arkansas Tech continues talks with city about proposed project

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (April 4, 2008)---Arkansas Tech University officials and representatives of the City of Russellville are continuing talks concerning the issue of Tech donating several acres of land to the city for access around the west side of the Tech campus.

“After several cooperative meetings with the city, several issues remain to be resolved concerning this project,” said Susie Nicholson, assistant to the president at Tech. “Considering the significant investment of hundreds of millions of dollars that the state has in the Tech campus, and our responsibility to consider both current and future uses of this property, we feel it is our fiduciary duty to proceed in a prudent and deliberate manner. At this time we are optimistic that the many issues involved in this project can be resolved in a way that will properly balance the interests of the city and university. It may take a little time, but we are confident in a successful outcome.”
