Jacoway to speak at Arkansas Tech Dec. 6
The Arkansas Tech University Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, in conjunction with Phi Alpha Theta, will host a presentation by author Elizabeth Jacoway at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, in Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center Room 300 South.
Jacoway is the author of “Turn Away Thy Son: Little Rock, the Crisis That Shocked the Nation.” The book tells the story of the Little Rock desegregation crisis during the 1957-59 era.
Alumni Association to offer finals week donuts
Arkansas Tech University students, faculty and staff working through the rigors of final exams week will receive a boost from the Tech Alumni Association when members of the organization distribute donuts, coffee and cider on campus Dec. 10-13.
The Tech Alumni Association will be on hand with refreshments at Dean Hall, Corley Hall, McEver Hall and Witherspoon Hall from 8-10 a.m. on Monday through Thursday of finals week. The service will also be provided at Crabaugh Hall from 8-10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, and at Williamson Hall from 8-10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13.
Department of Public Safety sponsors Toys for Tots drive
The Arkansas Tech Department of Public Safety is hosting a Toys for Tots drive through Dec. 20 at its offices at 1511 N. Boulder Ave.
New and unwrapped toys may be dropped off between 7 a.m.-5 p.m.

Museum sale enters final days
The Arkansas Tech University Museum of Prehistory and History Store is still offering 35 percent off on all merchandise, but the sale is now in its final week.
The sale will continue through Thursday, Dec. 13, and then the museum store will close its doors in preparation for a move to the Techionery.
Store hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The store is presently located in Tucker Hall Suite 12.
Golden Suns at home Saturday night
Arkansas Tech University will put its 6-game winning streak in women’s basketball on the line on Saturday, Dec. 8, when the Golden Suns host the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats.
The Golden Suns (6-2) and the Bearcats (4-1) will tip-off at 7 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Coliseum. Admission to all regular season Arkansas Tech home basketball games is free to faculty, staff and students with a valid Tech ID card.
Saturday’s game will be broadcast by KWKK 100.9 FM. The broadcast will be streamed over the Internet at http://athletics.atu.edu/tech-web-schedule.htm.
Both the Arkansas Tech and Northwest Missouri State women’s basketball teams participated in the NCAA Division II Tournament last March.
Wonder Boys visit North Alabama on Saturday
The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team will visit the University of North Alabama Lions for a 3 p.m. game at Flowers Hall in Florence, Ala. on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Saturday’s game will be broadcast by KWKK 100.9 FM. The broadcast will be streamed over the Internet at http://athletics.atu.edu/tech-web-schedule.htm.
The Wonder Boys (5-3) will return home on Tuesday, Dec. 18, to host Southwestern College (Kan.) at 7:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader at Tucker Coliseum. The Golden Suns will start the doubleheader by taking on the University of Montevallo (Ala.) at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 18.
