Jacoway to speak at Arkansas Tech Dec. 6
The Arkansas Tech University Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, in conjunction with Phi Alpha Theta, will host a presentation by author Elizabeth Jacoway at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, in Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center Room 300 South.
Jacoway is the author of “Turn Away Thy Son: Little Rock, the Crisis That Shocked the Nation.” The book tells the story of the Little Rock desegregation crisis during the 1957-59 era.
Tech Bookstore to host Open House Dec. 5
The Arkansas Tech Bookstore will have its annual Christmas open house on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
The bookstore will celebrate the holiday season with refreshments, door prize drawings every hour and a 25 percent discount on all gifts and Tech merchandise.
Students offered de-stressing opportunity
With final exams around the corner, the Arkansas Tech Counseling Center and the Arkansas Tech Health & Wellness Center are conducting a De-Stressing Zone for students on Wednesday, Dec. 5, in Doc Bryan Multi-Purpose Room 242 from 10 a.m.-11 p.m.
Massage therapists from the Russellville area will be available, yoga mats and relaxation music will also be offered.
Meeting set for Spring Break volunteer opportunity
There will be an interest meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, in Doc Bryan Student Services Building Room 105 for Arkansas Tech students wanting to find out more information about an Alternative Spring Break trip.
This group of selected students will travel to New Orleans and work with Tulane University and AmeriCorps assisting in Hurricane Relief efforts. The trip will focus on aiding with the student-run 'SAFER' (Student Advocacy for Equitable Recovery) program.

Visual Arts Association hosting sale at Norman Hall
The Arkansas Tech Visual Arts Association is holding its annual art sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, and Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Norman Hall.
The sale is in the gallery on the first floor of Norman Hall. Work includes jewelry, photographs, paintings, drawings, ceramics and more.
Alumni Association to offer finals week donuts
Arkansas Tech University students, faculty and staff working through the rigors of final exams week will receive a boost from the Tech Alumni Association when members of the organization distribute donuts, coffee and cider on campus Dec. 10-13.
The Tech Alumni Association will be on hand with refreshments at Dean Hall, Corley Hall, McEver Hall and Witherspoon Hall from 8-10 a.m. on Monday through Thursday of finals week. The service will also be provided at Crabaugh Hall from 8-10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, and at Williamson Hall from 8-10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13.
Department of Public Safety sponsors Toys for Tots drive
The Arkansas Tech Department of Public Safety is hosting a Toys for Tots drive through Dec. 20 at its offices at 1511 N. Boulder Ave.
New and unwrapped toys may be dropped off between 7 a.m.-5 p.m.

Arkansas Tech begins 2007-08 basketball season
The basketball season at Arkansas Tech University is now in full swing as the Wonder Boys and Golden Suns prepare for the beginning of Gulf South Conference play in November.
