Tech announces fall final exam schedule
Arkansas Tech University has announced the final exam schedule for the fall 2007 semester.
According to the Office of Academic Affairs, the purpose of the schedule is to aid faculty and students by providing adequate time for administration and completion of examinations. Students who have more than three examinations on any one day may request relief from the professor(s) involved.

Mid-term class offered to Tech students
Need a 3-hour class to maintain academic eligibility?
Tech offers a class designed just for you: CSP 1013, Principles of Collegiate Success. This course has been designed to teach students how to study smarter, develop more effective study, exam, note taking, reading and writing skills and how to implement time and task management methods.
Available sections of the class are:
CSP 1013, Section 12 M&W begins Oct. 15, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
CSP 1013, Section 13 T&R begins Oct. 16, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Contact Tech Student Accounts Office for tuition and fees. Students receiving Tech ACT scholarships should contact the Financial Aid Office to determine if their scholarship can be adjusted to cover all or part of the tuition incurred from adding this course.

Art competition reception Thursday at Norman Hall
The Arkansas Tech University Art Department will host an opening reception and awards presentation for its first juried student art competition at the Norman Hall Gallery on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m.
The show will be on display from Thursday, Oct. 4, through Monday, Oct. 29. Daily gallery hours are from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Hispanic Heritage Month luncheon on Wednesday
Chartwells and the Arkansas Tech International and Multicultural Student Services Office will co-sponsor a luncheon to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Chambers Cafeteria.
The menu will include chicken lasagna, taco bowls, rice, black beans, spicy taco salad, guacamole, Mexican pizza, Pico de Gallo and Mexican bread pudding.
Normal daily rate of $4.95 plus tax for lunch applies for faculty, staff and students without meal plans. Students with meal plans will need to present their Tech ID cards.
Special Health Hut on Wednesday
In recognition of National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, the Arkansas Tech Counseling Center will host the Health Hut at Doc's Place inside the Doc Bryan Student Services Building on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
The Health Hut will provide the campus community with information regarding relationships. It will be open from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Wonder Boys on the road Saturday
Arkansas Tech will face its third consecutive nationally-ranked opponent when the Wonder Boys take on the Delta State Statesmen at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Travis E. Parker Field in Cleveland, Miss.
The Wonder Boys (3-2 overall, 1-2 GSC) dropped a 27-20 decision to nationally third-ranked North Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 29. Delta State (4-0, 3-0) defeated Southern Arkansas 28-3 in its most recent game on Thursday, Sept. 27. The Statesmen are ranked No. 8 in this week’s American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II top 25 poll.
Saturday’s game at Delta State can be heard over the air in the Russellville area on KWKK 100.9 FM beginning with the pre-game show at 5:30 p.m. The broadcast will also be streamed over the Internet at http://athletics.atu.edu/tech-web-schedule.htm.
Golden Suns at home Thursday night
The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team will welcome the University of Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms to Tucker Coliseum for a 7 p.m. Gulf South Conference match on Thursday, Oct. 4.
No admission will be charged.
After hosting UAM, the Golden Suns will hit the road for the Southwestern Oklahoma State Invitational in Weatherford, Okla., this weekend.
In other news from Tech Athletics, the men’s golf team will compete at the Derrall Foreman Classic in Cleveland, Miss, on Friday, Oct. 5, and Saturday, Oct. 6; the women’s tennis team will be at the Collin County Invitational in Plano, Texas, on Friday, Oct. 5, and Saturday, Oct. 6; and the cross country team will run in the Brooks Memphis Twilight on Saturday, Oct. 6.
