Freshman senators elected
Seth Bartolotta, Jingwei He and Gentry Tubbs were elected freshman senators for the Arkansas Tech Student Government Association during elections on the Tech campus on Friday, Sept. 14.
They will join the senate for its regular meetings, which are each Wednesday at noon in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building.
New grant for freshmen
Are you an Arkansas Tech student who could use an extra $1,000 this school year? If so, the new Go! Opportunities Grant may provide it.
If you graduated from an Arkansas high school or received a GED after Dec. 31, 2006, you may be eligible for this grant.

HPEWS Club hosts mini golf night
The Arkansas Tech Health, Physical Education and Wellness Science (HPEWS) Club will host a miniature golf tournament at the Hull Double Gymnasium on Monday, Sept. 24.
The cost will be $5 to play 18 holes. The course will be set up from 7:30-9:00 p.m. Lowest score will receive a gift certificate to the bookstore.

CMLA hosts school administrators
The Arkansas Tech Collegiate Middle Level Association (CMLA) will host a presentation by middle school principals from the Little Rock School District on Monday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. in Crabaugh Hall Room 302.
The principals will provide the students with tips on how they can become effective teachers.

Health Hut at Doc Bryan Wednesday
The Arkansas Tech Health and Wellness Center will open its Health Hut at the Doc Bryan Student Services Building from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19.
The Health Hut provides students, faculty and staff with information about changes they can make to become healthier people. Those who drop by will also have a chance to win the book “The Dorm Room Diet” by Daphne Oz.
Important information for home football games
Beginning with the home football game against Valdosta State on Saturday, Sept. 22, and at all other home football games this year (Sept. 29 vs. North Alabama; Oct. 20 vs. Ouachita Baptist and Oct. 27 vs. Southern Arkansas), all Tech students, faculty and staff members with a valid Tech ID (T# on it) are asked to enter Buerkle Field through the main entrance gate under the stadium, near the Baswell Hall entrance and elevator.
All Tech students, faculty and staff members must show their valid Tech ID, which must have the T-# on it, to gain admission to the stadium.
Saturday’s game against Valdosta State will kickoff at 3:05 p.m. It will be televised on Suddenlink Cable in Russellville on Channel 2 and Channel 119. KWKK 100.9 FM will have the radio broadcast beginning at 2:30 p.m. with the pre-game show. All Tech athletics radio broadcasts are also streamed over the Internet at http://athletics.atu.edu/tech-web-schedule.htm.
Museum to host Discovery Lecture Series event
The Arkansas Tech University Museum of Preshistory and History will host “Stories Told in Stone: Rock Art in Arkansas,” the latest in its Discovery Lecture Series, on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Tech Museum Techionery Lecture Hall.
George Sabo, guest curator of the rock art exhibit, will make the presentation. A rock art exhibit will open at 6:30 p.m. in the gallery adjacent to the lecture hall.
