            Brief announcements like these are periodically gathered and placed on www.atu.edu as a means of informing the campus community of events at Tech.

Comedian Tommy Johnagin to perform at Tech Tuesday

            Tommy Johnagin, a 25-year old autobiographical comedian from Benton, Ill., will appear at Doc’s Place in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building at Arkansas Tech University on Tuesday, April 22, at 9 p.m.

“50-Minute Tour of Saudi Arabia” on Wednesday

            The Arkansas Tech University International and Multicultural Student Services Office will host a “50-Minute Tour of Saudi Arabia” in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building Lecture Hall beginning at noon on Wednesday, April 23.

            Tech students from Saudi Arabia will make the presentation. For more information, send e-mail to dbirge@atu.edu.

SAB, SGA to host Spring Fling

            Arkansas Tech University will host its annual Spring Fling for students on Thursday, April 24, from 5-8 p.m. on the Chambers Cafeteria West Lawn.

            The event will include live music by Alpha Rev, a mechanical bull, an inflatable obstacle course, a climbing wall, a foam party and old-time photos and gel-scapes. The event will conclude with an outdoor showing of the major motion picture “National Treasure: Book of Secrets.”

            The Arkansas Tech Student Government Association and Student Activities Board are co-sponsors for Spring Fling 2008. For more information, send e-mail to sab@atu.edu.

Anders, Canerday and Shry to be honored with reception

            The Arkansas Tech University School of Liberal and Fine Arts will honor retiring faculty members Andy Anders, Jerry Canerday and Dr. Steve Shry with a reception in the Chambers Cafeteria East Dining Room on Thursday, April 24, from 3-4:30 p.m.

            Anders is associate professor of music and head of the music department. He has served on the Tech faculty since 1968. Canerday, a member of the Tech faculty since 1994, is an assistant professor of geography. Shry is a professor of psychology whose tenure on the Tech faculty dates back to 1975.

Senior Art Exhibition on display at Norman Hall

            The Arkansas Tech University Art Department will host the Tech Senior Art Exhibition April 12-May 5 in the Norman Hall Gallery.

            The exhibit is open weekdays from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m. For more information, call (479) 968-0244.
