Residence Hall Association to present “The Price is Right”

            The Arkansas Tech University Residence Hall Association will host an evening of “The Price is Right” for Tech students on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Doc Bryan Student Services Building Lecture Hall.

            The game show will start at 9 p.m. and will be free to all students with a valid Tech identification card.

Brides-to-be offered class about wedding planning

The Arkansas Tech University School of Community Education and Professional Development will offer those with nuptials in their future a class about how to prepare for the big day this spring as part of its continuing education program.

“Planning the Ultimate Wedding” is for brides, the bridal party, parents of the bride or anyone interested in learning more about wedding planning. The class will incorporate various vendors, their duties and products, as well as cover the basics of wedding planning beginning with the engagement period and ending with the honeymoon.

Classes will be held on Thursdays beginning Feb. 21 and will continue through April 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Lake Point Conference Center. Cost is $85 or $75 if registered prior to Jan. 28, 2008.

Hatha Yoga class coming to Lake Point

            Individuals seeking a fun and different way to keep pace with their New Year’s resolutions can turn to a Hatha Yoga class at the Lake Point Conference Center this spring.

Hatha Yoga is an ancient low-impact form of exercise which involves no pain, speed or force. It can relieve stress, increase heart stamina, ward off osteoporosis and promote relaxation. Basic postures will be practiced along with emphasis on proper breathing and focused relaxation.

Classes begin Feb. 4 and run through April 14. Classes are held Monday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. in Hull Physical Education Building Room 111. Cost is $85, or $75 if registered prior to Jan. 28, 2008.

Tech to host NGWSD clinic for girls

            Arkansas Tech University will celebrate the 22nd annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day by conducting sports clinics in basketball, golf, tennis, volleyball, dance and cheerleading for girls on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Hull Building on the Tech campus.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. and is open to girls age 12 and under. In addition to participating in the clinics, all attendees will receive free admission to the women's basketball game at 4 p.m. that same day between Arkansas Tech and Ouachita Baptist. After the game, any of the girls in attendance will have an opportunity to get autographs from the Golden Suns.
