State's top music educators coming to Tech this week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (October 30, 2007)--Arkansas Tech University will host the annual conference of the Arkansas Music Educators Association (AMEA) on Thursday, Nov. 1, and Friday, Nov. 2.

The conference will include a master class and concert with the Boston Brass, a quintet that performs more than 100 concert dates per year. The Boston Brass has participated in similar master classes at such institutions as the Eastman School of Music, the Peabody Conservatory of Music, the University of Florida, the University of Michigan and Yale University.

This week’s AMEA meeting will also feature seminars on instrumental, choral and elementary music and a performance by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Percussion Ensemble.

Dr. Francis McBeth, professor of music at Ouachita Baptist University from 1957-96 and one of the most performed American symphonic wind composers of the past 30 years, will make the keynote address.
