Kids Campus

Kids Campus is Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus' pre-college program for K-12 students. Events offer exciting activities to promote the arts, technical learning and higher education.

SUMMER 2013 


June 17-21

Little Picassos (grades 2-4)
Discover the basic principles of drawing. Build a foundation by understanding and portraying dimensional objects, figures and landscapes. Learn shading and highlighting, hatching and cross hatching to create images with depth. Explore different mediums, including graphite, chalk and colored pencil. Explore fun techniques using stencils and rubbings to bring it all together and create a true work of art! Location: TBD. Time: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Big Picassos (grades 5-7)
Take your drawings to the next level. Explore techniques used by the masters; hone your skills in graphite, charcoal, and ink. Practice still life, figure, and abstract subjects. Work on developing layouts, perspective, and creating your next masterpiece! Location: TBD. Time: 1-3 p.m. 


July 8-12

Wonderful World of Art (ages 6-14)
Make a Splash – explore the world of water and water fun through stories, art and other activities about oceans, rivers, lakes and creatures of the sea. This course is in partnership with the Center for Art and Education. Time: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.


July 15-19

Kids Campus (grades pre-K - 4)
When it comes time for summer vacation, it’s important that your child doesn’t take a total break from learning. Join us and enjoy great activities in Literacy, Music, Art, Safety, Healthy Living and Computer Literacy. All campers will receive a T-shirt. Kindergarteners receive a backpack loaded with all the correct school supplies to start the 2013 school year. Older campers will receive lots of goodies, too. Each session is limited to 40 participants, so sign up soon. Tuition $30. Schedule as follows:


July 22-26

Fit Me (grades pre-K - 4)
Fun in the sun – and inside, too! Explore new activities each day in this program, which encourages a healthy lifestyle at a young age by engaging and focusing on exercise, diet and physical health. Bring a water bottle, tennis shoes and plenty of energy. Tuition $30. Time: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.


August 5-9

Making Fairy Gardens (grades 1-4)
Create and grow your own magical fairy garden! Decorate a garden planter with paint, gems and glitter. Take a magical voyage around campus to discover hidden fairy treasure and collect building materials for your garden. We will then fill the planters with soil, sow seeds and plant flowers to attract the fairies! The final day we will dress up, get our fairy faces painted and take photos to remember our voyage into fairy land! Time: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The Art of Printmaking  (grades 3-6)
Let’s discover the different methods of creating a truly unique work of art using different printmaking techniques. Learned techniques will include mono-printing, linoleum block printing, object action printing and finally we will create a custom design on a T-shirt to take home. Participants will need to bring a smock or an old large T-shirt to work in! Location: TBD. Time: 1-3 p.m.
