Xtreme Paintball

Join the Outdoor Rec department as we head to Dover to Xtreme Paintball for a day of competition and fun!

Goat Trail Hike

 

Date: Feb 27th Registration: Jan 25th - Feb - 25th Location: Ponca, AR

If you're looking for a big view of the Buffalo River combined with a world-class geologic experience, then Big Bluff and its narrow Goat Trail is your kind of place. At 550-ft tall, Big Bluff is just that---big. In fact, it's so big that it has the distinction of being the tallest sheer bluff face found between the Rocky and Appalachian mountains. This is a 4-5 hour round trip hike. The hike out is very strenuous. We will meet in front of Tucker Coliseum at 9:00am and depart shortly after. We will be back in Russellville by 5:00pm at the latest.

Wild Cave Tour

 

Date: Mar. 5th. Registration: Feb 3rdth - March 3rd Location: Fifty-Six, AR

Tour participants should expect to climb very steep slopes, crawl on hands and knees, pass under low ceilings, and travel through red clay. The tour ends at the Titans, a group of tall spectacular columns. Hard hats, kneepads, coveralls, gloves, and lights are provided. Participants must wear sturdy boots with ankle support and aggressive tread, bring street shoes for after the tour, and any medications needed.

Lost Valley Hike

 


Date: Mar. 12th Registration: Feb 8th - Mar. 8th. Location: Ponca, AR

With good reason, this is the most popular hiking trail in the national park, as well as the state of Arkansas. There is never a bad time to hike Lost Valley---it's as beautiful in winter as it is in springtime. This is a 2.5 hour round trip hike. We will meet at Tucker Coliseum at 9:00am and be back in Russellville by 4:00pm.

Horseshoe Canyon Ranch Bouldering

 

Date: Mar. 19th : Registration: Feb. 17th - Mar. 17th Location: Jasper, AR

Horseshoe Canyon Ranch has been featured in multiple outdoor magazines as one of the best climbing areas east of the Rockies. You don’t have to be a top class climber to enjoy climbing at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. They have many beginner routes available for the person who is just starting out. Whether you have always wanted to try climbing or you have never thought about it before arriving at the ranch, it is one activity you don’t want to miss.

Arkansas Regional Adventure Programming Conference

 

Date April 15th-17th: Registration: Feb 12th - April 12th. Location: Ponca, AR

The Arkansas Adventure Programming conference is a student-oriented programming weekend for individuals who want to connect with other outdoor educational enthusiasts. Conference attendees from the state of Arkansas can share ideas and practices while attendees from neighboring states can learn about what Arkansas has to offer. Whether you are a part of a seasoned outdoor program or thinking about starting a program, the Arkansas Adventure Programming Conference is for you.

Rafting the Big Piney Creek

 

Date April 9th: Registration: Mar. 7th - April. 7th Location: Dover, AR

Come rafting on the lower Big Piney creek in Dover, AR! Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Big Piney as we float down. Rafting is a great way for inexperienced floaters to hit the water. Rapids will range from class 1-3. Students must be able to swim.

Date: April 30th. Registration: March 28th - April 28th Location: Dover, AR

Come canoeing on the lower Big Piney creek in Dover, AR! Enjoy the sights and sounds of the big Piney as we float down. There is no better view of a river than from the seat of a canoe!

Experienced paddlers only please as the river will still be somewhat high with Class I - III rapids.
