TECHConnect - Orientation Leaders

TECHConnect is a 4-day program held just before classes begin in August where incoming students become more familiar with campus, learn about involvement opportunities, and meet other new students while connecting with current student leaders

OL Responsibilities

Orientation leaders will:

  • Assist with the logistics of the New Student Orientation program including program prep, move-in assistance, check-in, and escorting students around campus
  • Facilitate small groups sessions debriefing various topics including campus involvement and resources, mental health, sexual assault and title IX resources and academic preparedness and expectations
  • Engage with incoming students through formal and informal presentations and conversations
Returning Orientation Leaders will:
  • Fulfill all of the requirments above, as well as the following tasks:
  • Assist Green & Gold leaders during the orientation leader training in August.
  • Mentor 1-2 new orientation leaders throughout the spring and summer.
  • Serve as the designated set-up & clean-up crew after large group events. 
  • Attend an additional returning orientation leader training  on August 14, 2023    

Qualifications & Benefits

  • Qualifications
    • Be a full-time, undergraduate student in good academic and disciplinary standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5
    • Be familiar with university policies, procedures, and common campus resources
    • Display strong communication skills and a positive attitude
    • Have excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with a variety of audiences

Time Commitment

Freshmen OLs MUST be available on the following dates:

  • March 14 or 15, 2023 Spring Training I 
  • April 10 or 11, 2023 Spring Training II
  • April 13 or 17, 2023- Social Media Days
  • Online Training in June (Date TBD)
  • Online Training in July (Date TBD).
  • August 15-18, 2023- Pre-Orientation Training
    • Eary Residence Hall Move-in on Saturday, August 12, 2023
  • August 19-22, 2023- New Student Orientation 2023
