43rd Arkansas Junior Science and Humanities Symposium

Arkansas High School students in grades 9 - 12 are eligible to participate in the 43rd Arkansas Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (AJSHS) hosted by Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. The ARJSHS Symposium includes a full educational program as well as providing opportunities to compete for scholarships, expense paid trip to National JSHS in Huntsville, Alabama, and cash prizes in either the Research Paper Presentations, or Poster Contests.

Major funding for the Arkansas Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS)
Program is supplied jointly by the United States Departments of the
Army,
Navy,
and Air Force, through a subgrant administered by the
Academy of Applied
Science.

Research Paper Contest winners are awarded
scholarships by the Academy of
Applied Science.
1st Place Scholarship, $2,000
2nd Place Scholarship, $1,500
3rd Place Scholarship, $1,000
Research Paper Contest winners are given the opportunity to compete for
scholarships at the National level awarded by the Academy of Applied Science.
1st and 2nd place winners are given the opportunity to present their papers at
the National JSHS symposium where they can compete for additional
scholarships.
All Research Paper Contest winners are awarded a trip to National JSHS
Symposium.
1st, 2nd, 3rd winners and the 4th, 5th, and 6th Place Runner-ups are awarded an
expense paid trip (travel, meals, and lodging) to the National JSHS Symposium in
Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Poster Contest winners are awarded scholarships by Arkansas Tech university.
Scholarships are awarded in two categories: Large Schools and Small Schools
Four full tuition freshmen scholarships are awarded, two in each category. The
one year scholarships, valued at $3,432 each, are renewable upon meeting
scholarship criteria.
Poster Contest winners also compete for cash prizes.
Duplicate prizes are awarded in two division: Large Schools and Small Schools
1st Place: $100.00
2nd Place: $80.00
3rd Place: $70.00
4th Place: $60.00
5th Place: $50.00
6th Place: $40.00
Scholarship Renewal Criteria
Each scholarship is, based on 12 hour enrollment, for freshman year in
recognition of achievement in the 2004 Arkansas Jr. Science & Humanities
Symposium Poster competition. This scholarship must be used the semester
following high school graduation and will be credited to the students’ account
following enrollment.
The Arkansas Jr. Science Scholarship is awarded for one year based on the following renewal requirements: The student must enroll and complete a minimum of 12 hours during the fall semester with a 3.00 GPA to be eligible for this scholarship the following spring semester.
