STARLAB for Students and Parents
 

Students Program

 
Programs for up to 50 students (depending on grade level) would be delivered at a school location. 
 
A 20 minute program for students in the STARLAB would be provided up to 6 times a day.  
 
Topics of the presentation could be individually prepared for  a school situation.
 
Sample of programs (Programs can be adapted to meet the needs of audience or customized programs can be developed):
 
The Sky Tonight:  An examination of the sky for any night of the year at the location of the school      [grades 4-8]

 

The Big Bear in the Sky: Locating and hearing stories about the Ursa Major Constellation (the Big Dipper) from different cultures     [grades K-3]
 
Earthquakes, Volcanoes and  Plate Tectonics: Get a better understanding of the effects of the moving tectonic plates on the Earth  [grade 6]
 
Stories in the Sky:  Listen to some of the tales from Greek or Native American  Mythology and see the characters in the sky .  (Ancient Egyptian and African mythologies to be added soon) [grades 3-6]
 

Parents Program

 

Schools would conduct a Family Math/Science night for students and their parents the evening of the student presentations.

 

The STARLAB would be present for the parents to experience a brief program so they may understand what their child was experiencing during their time in the STARLAB.

 

The cost of conducting the day with the students and  a Family Math/Science Event is $500 for any school in the Arkansas River Valley.  For schools  outside of the River Valley, the cost is $600.  These prices includes all travel expenses.

 

 

FAMILY NIGHT ONLY OPTION

To conduct only a STARLAB program for a Family Math/Science Night Activity at a school the cost is $300 for any school in the Arkansas River Valley and $400 for schools outside of the River Valley. 

MSI personnel will set up the STARLAB and will present up to six,  20 minute programs for students and parents over a three hour period.    These prices include all travel expenses.
