   Targeted Teachers:  Kindergarten through grade 4

   Graduate Credit:  3 hours available (tuition scholarship provided)

    Books and Materials:  Provided for all participants

   Stipends:  Up to $710 per person!

   Supplies for Teachers:  Minimum of $150 per teacher

   Project Goals:

GOAL 1: Teachers will expand the teaching of science in the K-4 classroom using inquiry-based instructional strategies.

GOAL 2:  Teachers will integrate science, math, language arts, social studies, art, and technology into streamlined units.

GOAL 3: Units written by teachers will include the use of the 7E teaching model for teaching and incorporating inquiry-based science instructional strategies.

Big Ideas in K-4 will focus on the use of streamlined units and an inquiry based instructional pedagogy across the early childhood grades.  The 7E instructional model will form the basis of the instructional component so that all core content areas will be taught throughout the academic year.

“This project is to be funded in part by a federal grant under Title II of the No Child Left Behind Act (P.L. 107-110) administered by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. $74,397 (70%) of the cost of the project was financed with federal funds. $32,400 (30%) was provided by non-federal sources.”
