Immunization Requirements Required Immunizations Proof of Immunity - Proof of immunization for 2 measles and rubella is required for all students born after January 1, 1957. Measles and rubella immunizations must have been given after January 1, 1968, and after the student's first birthday. Immunization Exemptions - Students born prior to January 1, 1957, are exempt. Copies of immunization records are acceptable as long as they are signed by the clinician or have a clinic or school stamp on the copy. If you have your doctor or nurse fill out your immunization form, make sure he/she signs and dates it. If you have had a name change, make sure the name under which you registered at TECH is on the information submitted. The Health and Wellness Center registered nurse gives MMR free of charge for currently enrolled students. Meningococcal Meningitis Advisement* - Meningococcal Meningitis is a rare but potentially fatal illness. Although the risk of contracting this disease is low for the general population, there is a greater potential risk of infection for certain college students, particularly freshmen living in residence halls. Others at risk for meningitis include anyone in close contact with a known case, anyone who has a compromised immune system and an upper respiratory infection, and anyone traveling to areas of the world where meningitis is prevalent. A vaccine called "Menomune" is available.
